厚みのある座面と、斜めに切り込むように削り出された輪郭。見る角度によって表情が変わり、長い時間を経た木肌の擦れや色の濃淡が、新しい家具にはない深みを生み出しています。

A vintage wooden stool from Ethiopia which is low profile and strong, grounded legs, the piece feels less like conventional furniture and more like a small sculpture placed directly on the floor.

Almost entirely free of ornament, its presence comes from the volume of the wood and the clarity of its hand-carved form.

The substantial seat is cut with a distinctive sloping profile, creating a silhouette that changes subtly depending on the viewing angle. Surface wear, tonal variation, and traces of use developed over time give the wood a depth that cannot be reproduced in newly made furniture.

What drew WOUET to this piece was not decoration, but the beauty of its form itself.

Placed against white walls, concrete, stone, stainless steel, or black furniture, the aged wood creates a quiet contrast and brings warmth and visual rhythm to a modern interior.

Beside a sofa or low table, it can serve as an occasional seat.
In an entrance hall, hallway, or bedroom, we recommend leaving the surface empty and allowing it to stand as a low sculptural object.
