裾へ大きく広がるシルエットに、黒と赤褐色の線が静かに走る、ヴィンテージの手びねり人物像です。

モロッコ北部、地中海沿いに連なるリフ山地では、女性たちが土を採り、砕いた古い陶片を混ぜ、轆轤を使わずに器を成形してきました。火で焼き、黒や赤褐色の顔料で幾何学的な文様を描く。そうした日々の手仕事は、調理や保存のための器だけでなく、ミニチュアや小さな人形の造形にも受け継がれています。

この一点も、その土の文化から生まれた女性像です。
均整よりも手の痕跡を残した顔立ち。少し不思議な眼差し。裾の広がりと、衣服のように描かれた文様。時間を経た表面が、見るたびに異なる表情を見せます。

A small presence for a quiet room.

A rounded head, an upward-facing expression, folded arms, and a skirt that opens into a generous bell-shaped silhouette. Black and reddish-brown lines move softly across this vintage, hand-built terracotta figure.

In the Rif Mountains of northern Morocco, women have long gathered clay, mixed it with crushed pottery fragments, and shaped vessels by hand without a wheel. After firing, they decorate the surfaces with geometric markings in black and reddish-brown pigments. This everyday craft tradition extends beyond vessels for cooking and storage to miniature forms and small figurative objects.

This female figure emerges from that material culture.

Its hand-modelled face, slightly enigmatic gaze, and garment-like painted markings hold traces of both the maker’s hand and time. It is not an object of perfect symmetry, but one with a presence that becomes more compelling the longer it is lived with.

Place it against a white wall, on metal shelving, beside aged wood, or within a calm monochrome interior. Rather than simply decorating a space, it sits like a small sculpture.
