セネガルに暮らすトゥアレグ族のジュエリー職人が、一点ずつ手作業で仕上げたシルバーリング。

約W2cm × H2.5cmの大胆なシールド型のフォルムと、全面に刻まれた繊細な幾何学文様が印象的な一点です。

単体で見るとかなり存在感がありますが、実際に指に着けると意外なほど馴染みます。

シルバーを基調としているため、白いTシャツやシャツ、デニム、ブラックやグレーの装いにも合わせやすく、ジュエリーをいくつも重ねなくても、これ一本で手元のスタイリングが完成します。

遠目では立体的なフォルムが目を引き、近くで見ると細かな手彫りの文様が現れる。その二つの表情を持っているところも、このリングの魅力です。

このリングを制作した職人からは、「シルバーに少量の異なる金属を組み合わせることで、それぞれの素材が持つ力を重ね、身を守る願いを込めている」と直接聞きました。

Handcrafted by a Tuareg artisan living in Senegal, this one-of-a-kind silver ring features a distinctive shield-like form engraved entirely by hand.

Its sculptural silhouette is the defining feature of the piece. Measuring approximately W2cm × H2.5cm across the motif, the ring has a strong presence on the hand, while its refined engraving and sharply defined form keep the overall impression balanced and understated.

Worn with a simple white T-shirt, shirt or denim, it creates a quiet focal point without requiring additional jewelry. Its architectural form also pairs naturally with black, grey and other minimal styling, making it an easy statement piece for everyday wear.

The surface is decorated with hand-engraved geometric lines and triangular motifs. Slight variations in the depth and rhythm of the engraving reveal the craftsmanship behind the piece and distinguish it from machine-made jewelry.

Tuareg artisans have developed a distinctive tradition of metalwork across the Sahara over generations. Geometric motifs found in Tuareg jewelry are sometimes associated with ideas of travel, home, nature and human connection, although their meanings can vary between regions and individual artisans.

The artisan who made this ring explained that combining different metals can represent bringing together the qualities of each material, with the intention of protection.

For WOUET, however, the appeal of this piece goes beyond its cultural background.

We were particularly drawn to its architectural silhouette, the dimensional form seen from the side, and the subtle shadows created by the hand-engraved surface. Rather than presenting it simply as traditional jewelry, we selected it as a small sculptural object to be worn—a piece that feels equally at home within contemporary fashion.

The ring is approximately a Japanese size 17. Its proportions work particularly well as a men's statement ring, while those with the appropriate ring size can also wear it on the index or middle finger for a more sculptural look.

As each piece is made by hand, subtle variations in engraving, shape and surface are part of its character. This particular balance of form, markings and finish belongs to this piece alone.

Small marks and changes in the metal surface will naturally develop through wear, allowing the ring to acquire a character unique to its owner over time.
