This wooden headrest was made by the Sidamo people who live in the highland regions of southern Ethiopia.
Sidamo communities traditionally practice agriculture and maintain a settled lifestyle. Their everyday tools often reflect a preference for stability, durability and practical design, characteristics that are also evident in their woodworking traditions.

The headrest is composed of a gently curved upper support, two vertical side pillars and a central arched opening.
