エチオピアで制作された、手彫りの木製ミニテーブル。ひとつの木から削り出されたプリミティブな造形が特徴で、棚やサイドボードの上でディスプレイ台やインテリアオブジェとして楽しめる一点ものです。

約W17cm × D15cm × H7.6cmというコンパクトなサイズはエチオピアでもなかなか見つからず、棚上でお気に入りのオブジェやジュエリー、時計などを少しだけ持ち上げて見せる、小さなディスプレイスタンドとして使いやすいサイズです。

厚みのある天板と、低く構えた四本の脚。装飾をほとんど加えず、直線と木の量感だけで構成されたシンプルなフォルムが、この作品の大きな魅力です。

ひとつの木材から削り出して成形されているため、接合して作られた一般的な小型家具とは異なる一体感があります。均一に整えられていない輪郭や削り跡、わずかな左右差も残され、職人の手によって形づくられた木工品ならではの表情を感じられます。

表面には傷や擦れ、凹凸、色の濃淡が見られます。

本品はヴィンテージ品ではありませんが、現地で制作された後に保管されていた期間があるため、新しく制作されたばかりの木製品とは異なる落ち着いた風合いがあります。こうした時間の経過と手仕事による表情も、この個体の特徴です。

WOUETでは、この作品を単なる小型家具としてではなく、空間に高さとリズムをつくる小さなオブジェとしてキュレーションしました。

お気に入りの陶器や小さなアフリカンオブジェを置いたり、毎日使う時計やリングの定位置にしたり。棚やサイドボードの上に約7.6cmの高さを加えるだけで、平面的になりやすいディスプレイに自然な奥行きが生まれます。

今回のスタイリングのように、シルバーやステンレスなどの無機質な素材と組み合わせるのもおすすめです。深い色合いの木と金属のコントラストによって、木の温かさと金属のシャープな質感が互いに引き立ちます。

もちろん、何も載せずに単体で飾っても成立する造形です。

Hand-carved in Ethiopia from a single piece of wood, this one-of-a-kind miniature table is defined by its primitive form, substantial proportions, and subtle irregularities shaped by hand.

Measuring approximately W17–17.7cm × D15–15.5cm × H7.6–7.8cm, it is designed to be enjoyed less as conventional floor furniture and more as a small display platform or sculptural object on a shelf, sideboard, or console.

A thick top rests on four short legs, creating a remarkably simple silhouette. With almost no decorative elements, the strength of the piece comes from its proportions, material, and form.

Carved from a single piece of wood rather than assembled from separate components, it has a sense of solidity and continuity. Slight asymmetry, carving marks, and irregular edges remain visible, preserving the presence of the maker's hand.

The surface shows scratches, rubbing, uneven texture, and variations in tone.

This piece is not vintage. However, it has spent time in storage after being made in Ethiopia, giving the surface a character different from a newly finished wooden object. These traces of time and handwork are part of the individuality of this particular piece.

At WOUET, we selected it not simply as a miniature piece of furniture, but as a small object for creating height and rhythm within an interior.

Use it to display ceramics or small African objects, or as a place for everyday pieces such as jewelry and a watch. Adding even a subtle change of level to a shelf or sideboard can create greater depth and balance within a composition.

We particularly like pairing the dark wood with contrasting materials such as silver and stainless steel. The relationship between warm wood and cooler metal brings greater definition to both materials.

It can also be displayed entirely on its own.

The thick top and compact four-legged silhouette give the piece an almost architectural quality, allowing it to be appreciated as a small sculptural object from different angles.
