エチオピア南西部に暮らすグラゲ族によって製作された手彫りウッドボウルです。
無垢の木材を用い、轆轤は使わずノミのみで一点一点削り出されています。
外側から内側へと流れるようにつながる有機的なフォルムは、
用途から自然に導かれた形であり、過度な装飾を持たない分、
造形そのものの美しさが際立っています。

表面にはノミで削った痕跡が丁寧に残されており、均一に整えすぎない仕上げが、
民藝ならではの温かみある表情を生み出しています。
黒く落ち着いた色合いは制作工程において木材を燻したり油分を含ませることで
意図的に施されたもので、使用による経年変化ではありません。
新品でありながら、空間にすっと馴染む深みのある色調を備えています。

側面には取手状の穴が設けられており、持ち運びのためだけでなく、
紐や革コードを通して壁に掛けて保管・展示することも想定された構造です。


フルーツを入れるボウルとして、キャンディやナッツをまとめる器として、
また鍵やアクセサリーなど細々した小物を収めるトレイとしても使用できます。
テーブルやシェルフに何も入れず置くだけで黒い木肌と立体的な影が空間に奥行きを与え、

Product Description :

This handcrafted wooden bowl was made by the Gurage people of southwestern
Ethiopia.
It is carved entirely by hand from solid wood using chisels only, without the use of a lathe. The softly expanding, organic form flows naturally from the inside to the outside, resulting in a shape defined by function rather than decoration, allowing the sculptural quality of
the object itself to stand out.

The surface retains clear chisel marks, intentionally left to preserve the warmth and
character of traditional folk craftsmanship.
Rather than being polished to uniform smoothness, these traces of handwork give
the bowl a gentle, human presence.
The deep black tone is not the result of aging or use; it is achieved during the making
process through techniques such as smoking the wood or applying natural oils.
Although brand new, the bowl already carries a calm, grounded presence that blends
easily into contemporary spaces.

A handle-like opening on the side serves both practical and aesthetic purposes.
It allows the bowl to be carried easily and also makes it possible to attach a cord or
leather strap for hanging on the wall. Designed to move seamlessly between use and
display, this piece functions as both a vessel and a wall-mounted object.

It can be used as a fruit bowl, a container for small everyday items, or a tray for keys and accessories. Placed on a table or shelf, it adds a quiet yet powerful accent;

◯乾いた布で優しく拭き取り、湿気を避けて保管してください。
◯直射日光に長時間当たると変色することがありますのでご注意ください。
◯品質維持のため、天然塗料等で塗装が施してあります。
余分な加工がされていない分、
摩擦や水で色が少しずつ落ちる可能性があります。
色止め加工はされておりません。
