エチオピア中南部に暮らすグラゲ族によって製作された、伝統的な木製ボウルです。
現地で育った硬質な広葉樹を用い、一本の木から削り出す手仕事によって形づくられています。
厚みのある縁、深さのあるフォルム、側面に取り付けられた紐。
すべてが装飾ではなく、日常生活の中で使われることを前提とした機能的な造形です。

長年の使用により、木肌には自然な艶と深い色味が生まれ、
量産品にはない静かな存在感を放っています。

一点一点が異なり、同じものは二つと存在しません。


素材には、割れにくく耐久性の高い現地産の木材が選ばれています。
表面は塗装を施さず、使い込まれることで油分や手の触感が染み込み、
時間とともに表情が変化していきます。

制作はすべて手作業。
内側は実用性を考慮し滑らかに、外側には道具の痕跡を残し、
素材の力強さをそのまま活かしています。


グラゲ族の暮らしにおいて、木製の器は欠かせない生活道具です。
このボウルは、

お手入れ方法
◯乾いた布で優しく拭き取り、湿気を避けて保管してください。
◯直射日光に長時間当たると変色することがありますのでご注意ください。
◯品質維持のため、天然塗料等で塗装が施してあります。
余分な加工がされていない分、
摩擦や水で色が少しずつ落ちる可能性があります。
色止め加工はされておりません。



About the Piece :
This wooden bowl was handcrafted by the Gurage people of central-southern Ethiopia.
Carved from a single piece of locally sourced hardwood, it reflects a tradition rooted in everyday life rather than decoration.
Its thick rim, deep form, and attached leather strap are all functional elements, designed for daily use.
Over time, the surface has developed a rich patina, shaped by touch and use.
Each bowl is entirely unique.


Material & Craftsmanship :
Made from durable hardwood selected for its strength and longevity,
the bowl is left untreated, allowing the wood to age naturally.
Carved entirely by hand,
the interior is smoothly finished for practical use,
while the exterior retains subtle tool marks that reveal the making process.
