This brass sculpture was created using the traditional lost-wax casting technique passed down by the Dogon people of the Republic of Mali. Each piece is cast individually from thick brass, giving it a substantial weight when held. Its quiet yet powerful presence is characteristic of West African metalwork and brings a grounded atmosphere to any interior.

The main form represents a crocodile, on whose back stand two slender human figures. The almond-shaped heads, narrow necks and elongated limbs are signature features of Dogon figural expression, shaped with care to evoke the connection between people, nature and the land they inhabit.
