Measuring approximately 27.6 cm (10.8 inches) in height, this wall-hanging African mask is a versatile size that injects a powerful presence and deep character into any space.

A singular object that changes the feeling of a room the moment it is hung.

A flat crest rises from the crown. A bold ridge runs down the centre of the face, ending in a long, beak-like projection. In black, warm off-white, and reddish brown, the mask creates a strong silhouette against white walls, stone, stainless steel, or glass.

Up close, its rounded cheeks and narrow eyes give it an almost playful expression. Step back, and the face becomes an abstract composition of lines and planes. From an angle, the depth of the crest and beak comes forward, casting a changing shadow across the wall.

WOUET was drawn to the way this carving reduces a face to only its essential forms, yet remains impossible to overlook. Hung alone with space around it, it reads less as an ornament than as a small sculpture appearing on the wall.

The form recalls Kifwebe masks associated with Songye and Luba visual traditions, particularly through its crest, central ridge, and projecting mouth. However, its place of production, cultural attribution, age, and original use have not been confirmed. It is therefore presented for its form, material, and hand-worked presence rather than assigned to a specific cultural origin.

This mask was acquired in Morocco. Surface wear, small scratches, paint loss, and tonal variations are present. These marks are part of the individual character of the work. Please review all photographs before purchasing.

As a one-of-a-kind object, this exact form, surface, and colouration will not be restocked.

Use secure wall hardware suitable for the weight of the piece and install it on a stable wall. Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water, detergents, direct sunlight, and hot or humid environments.
