エチオピアで作られた、木製のローテーブルです。
床に近い生活を基本とするエチオピアの住文化に見られる造形をもとにした形で、食器や器、日用品、調理道具などを床から離して置くための台として想定された構造を備えています。
日本の座卓や低台に近いプロポーションで、床座の暮らしに対応する低いテーブルとして成立しています。

厚みのある木材から成形され、上部は水平な天板として機能する構造です。
天板の周囲には低い立ち上がりが設けられており、器や道具が転がり落ちにくい設計になっています。
また持ち手があるため持ち運びや移動がしやすく、空間や用途に合わせて柔軟に配置できます。

装飾は最小限に抑えられ、視覚的な華やかさよりも用途を優先した、素直で実用的な造形が特徴です。民具的な合理性がそのまま形として表れています。

表面には、手仕事による制作ならではのわずかな揺らぎや、木材本来の質感が残されています。過度な研磨や均一な仕上げは施されておらず、素材の個性や造形の痕跡がそのまま表情として現れています。

This vintage wooden low table was handcrafted in Ethiopia. Its form reflects the traditional way of living found in many Ethiopian homes, where daily life takes place close to the floor. Designed as a raised platform for tableware, vessels, everyday objects, and cooking utensils, it embodies a simple yet highly functional approach to furniture. Its low profile is comparable to a Japanese floor table, making it equally suitable for contemporary floor-level living.

Carved from a solid piece of wood, the table features a thick, flat top supported by a sturdy base. A gently raised rim surrounds the tabletop, helping to keep bowls, cups, and small objects securely in place. Integrated handles allow the table to be carried and repositioned with ease, making it adaptable to different spaces and uses.

Decoration is intentionally minimal. Rather than emphasizing ornament, the design prioritizes function, resulting in an honest and timeless form shaped by everyday life. Its quiet beauty comes from practicality, with each element serving a clear purpose.
