A hand-carved African sculpture inspired by the Nimba figure of the Baga people of Guinea.
This one-of-a-kind object reflects the essence of African folk art with its abstract form and symbolic head, characteristic of primitive art.

Carved from a single piece of dense hardwood, the sculpture features a deep black finish with a calm, matte texture. With use and time, a natural sheen may gradually develop. Each piece is shaped by hand, leaving subtle asymmetries and tool marks that highlight organic lines unattainable in mass production. The head is decorated with incised patterns, where the repetition of carved lines creates rhythm and adds depth to the overall form.

In West Africa, Nimba figures are known as symbols of abundance and prosperity and are often associated with large headdresses traditionally worn on the head. This piece is a smaller sculptural interpretation based on those distinctive forms, adapted into a size suitable for interior display. The emphasized head and extended form are often seen as expressions of vitality and strength, while the geometric carvings are commonly used to represent order and harmony.

The spiritual presence and powerful abstraction of such forms are considered to have influenced early 20th-century European art.
