At the gateway to the desert, beyond the Atlas Mountains in southern Morocco, lies the town of Ouarzazate.
It was here that we discovered this hand-carved camel figurine, made from natural soapstone by a Berber (Amazigh) artisan.

The material—soapstone—has a smooth, warm touch and has long been prized in North Africa and the Saharan region for its workability and organic beauty.
Its soft, carvable texture makes it ideal for intricate craftwork, and its natural variations in tone give each piece a unique character.

Each figurine is individually carved by hand using simple tools such as chisels and engraving picks.
The gentle curves of the camel reflect the Berber nomadic heritage and their deep reverence for nature.
