モロッコ南部タムグルートで作られた小ぶりな陶器の湯呑みで、手のひらに収まるサイズ感とやわらかな丸みのあるフォルムが特徴です（サイズ：口径約9cm × 高さ約8.2cm）。

素朴で温かみのある形は職人の手仕事によって一つひとつ形づくられており、使用されるのはタムグルート周辺で採れるミネラル豊富な粘土。
ろくろで成形し天日乾燥ののち薪窯でじっくり焼き上げられることで、独特の質感が生まれます。
深いオリーブグリーンの釉薬にオレンジが溶け込むように現れる色合いは、焼成時の炎や窯の中の位置によって変化し、同じものは二つとありません。
釉薬のムラや焼き色の濃淡、わずかな歪みや凹凸も含めてこの陶器ならではの魅力となっています。
湯呑みとして日常使いするのはもちろん、小鉢としてナッツや棒状のお菓子、副菜を盛り付けたり、デザートカップとしても使えるサイズ感で、使い方の幅が広いのも魅力です。

Moroccan Tamgroute Pottery Mini Tea Cup Yunomi – Handmade North African Ceramic (Olive Green / Orange Glaze)

A small yunomi tea cup fired in the traditional kilns of Tamgroute in southern Morocco. Born from a pottery culture passed down in a village on the edge of the Sahara, it is a representative Moroccan craft from North Africa often found among traditional Moroccan decor.

The cup features the natural irregular form typical of Tamgroute pottery and a deep olive green glaze with subtle touches of orange. It can be used as a cup for mint tea or Japanese tea, or repurposed as a small vase that adds an African interior accent.

Tamgroute is a small village located in southern Morocco at the gateway to the Sahara Desert.
Along with Fez and Safi it is known as one of the three major pottery centers of Morocco. For around 400 years pottery has been produced here using traditional techniques passed down through families.

This small tea cup resembles the size of a Japanese yunomi and has a soft form that fits naturally in the hand.
Its simple and warm shape is formed individually by artisans rather than by machines.

The clay used comes from mineral rich deposits around Tamgroute.
Artisans shape the vessel using a foot powered wheel then dry it under the strong Sahara sun. It is slowly fired in a wood kiln fueled by date palm trees.
These traditional methods give Tamgroute pottery its distinctive rustic texture and warmth.

The color changes subtly depending on its position in the kiln and the strength of the flame. Even when the same glaze is used the final result is never identical.
Variations in glaze flow differences in firing tones slight distortions and surface textures all appear naturally.

These individual differences are part of the charm of Tamgroute pottery and reflect the beauty of primitive art and traditional African folk craft.

When not in use simply placing it on a shelf or table gives it the presence of an African art object.
It pairs beautifully with modern interiors or Scandinavian furniture adding depth and a primitive art accent to the space.

Because Tamgroute pottery is entirely handmade each piece differs slightly in form color and glaze expression.
No two are exactly the same making each one a unique African craft.
